The Catholic secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Newark, communities of faith and learning, develop and nurture young men and women of values and vision through quality college preparatory education and formation programs. The Catholic secondary schools of the Archdiocese of Newark provide “an education for the future, faith for a lifetime.”
The primary goal of the program of instruction is to provide learning experience in a Catholic environment that will assist the students in their religious, spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development.
The following requirements are foundational. Schools are encouraged to exceed these requirements and develop a program that challenges the needs and abilities of each student, and prepares each student for participation in the ecclesial and public communities of the 21st century.

A minimum of 110 credits are required for a four-year high school. One credit is awarded for a class period of instruction that meets one time per week during the school year. A class period of instruction is a minimum of 40 minutes. A credit year is awarded for a class period of instruction that meets daily for the school year and equals five credits.
A copy of the program of studies, together with the regulations governing its administration as formulated locally shall be kept on file in the principal’s office of each high school. It shall indicate the subjects taught, the required and elective subjects, the number of class periods per week, and the number of credits required for graduation.
• The subject offerings shall be sufficiently varied to provide for the educational needs of normal youth of high school age living in the community which the school is intended to serve.• Guidance services shall be provided to assist each pupil and his/her parents to make a suitable choice in the use of all available educational resources of the school.
• The school shall monitor a plan for curriculum development and for the advancement of instructional efficiency.
