Saint Nicholas Takes 1st place in nationwide coding contest, 2nd year in a row

Saint Nicholas Catholic School, Jersey City, wins first place for the 2nd year in a row in the National “Code Monkey-Code Rush” coding contest. “Code Rush” is a nationwide coding contest held by CodeMonkey Studios, Inc. During March, hundreds of teams and over 35 states participated in the competition.

The students were required to solve a total of 140 programming challenges using CoffeeScript programming language in the shortest possible time. Under the direction of Mrs. Hiranmayee Suresh, Saint Nicholas School, Jersey City, formed two teams and participated in the elementary and middle school divisions. The teams: Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8 met over the past eight weeks to compete with extraordinary spirit and perseverance. This hard work resulted in Saint Nicholas teams winning first place in both divisions of the competition!

The Code Rush competition helps students build the fundamentals of computer science including multi-step problem solving and analytical thinking. Congratulations to both of our first place teams from St. Nicholas School – Jersey City!
