Township of Washington, NJ: Immaculate Heart Academy is excited to announce the launch of the school’s first-ever Field Hockey program. IHA’s Field Hockey team will start competing in the fall 2022 season on a junior varsity schedule, with plans to launch a varsity team in the 2023 season. The school is actively looking to hire a coach for the inaugural team.
Scotch Plains, NJ: Union Catholic’s annual Christmas Drive called on students, faculty, and staff to join forces to help those who are less fortunate in another great display of Union Catholic’s social justice initiative. Faculty members Ms. Samantha Scutieri, Mrs. Michelle Goworek, and Mrs. Susan McLaughlin are the coordinators of the Christmas Drive, which is divided into two parts.
Demarest, NJ: Students who participated in the virtual 2021 Teen Hunger Summit explored food insecurity in the United States, and learned how their volunteerism can help ease this pervasive problem. The summit was sponsored by the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.

There is no simple answer to the question, “What is the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC)?” It is so many things. Logistically, it is a three-day gathering of Catholic high schoolers from around the country that happens every two years in Indianapolis, Ind. in November.
West Orange, NJ: The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children (SFIC) raised $300,000 — which is $50,000 more than its target goal — to fund partial tuition assistance scholarships for underprivileged students attending Archdiocese of Newark schools at its annual gala in West Orange’s Pleasantdale Chateau on November 11.
Newark, NJ: Last Spring, the Archdiocese of Newark and the Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children (SFIC) provided 100 students with $1,500 each in scholarship support to assist them in receiving a high-quality, values-based Catholic education for the 2021-2022 school year through the “We Are Living Stones” Catholic Tuition Assistance initiative.
Demarest, NJ: Erin Ha, a teen tennis phenomenon from Tenafly, recently won the USTA National Girls’ 16 Indoor Singles Championship. Ha recently transferred to the Academy of the Holy Angels, where she is a junior.
Scotch Plains, NJ: Union Catholic held a college signing ceremony at the school on Monday for track and field athletes Shane Brosnan, Abby Granrath, Daniela Peralta, Jada Mia Puryear, and Sydney McDonald on Monday. Brosnan is headed to Harvard, Granrath and McDonald will attend Holy Cross, Peralta signed with Dayton, and Puryear will be attending Columbia.
