IHA’s Field Hockey team will start competing in the fall 2022 season on a junior varsity schedule, with plans to launch a varsity team in the 2023 season. The school is actively looking to hire a coach for the inaugural team.
Mr. John Downey, IHA director of athletics, said that prospective families have been inquiring about starting a field hockey team at IHA for many years. “It is important for our Athletic Department to open up new opportunities for our families and to grow with the times,” he said. “We feel honored to be able to offer another avenue for our student-athletes to become even more involved in the Immaculate Heart community.”For decades, Immaculate Heart Academy has been recognized as an athletic powerhouse with student-athletes winning numerous league, county, state sectional, and state championships in a variety of sports. Field Hockey will be the 16th sport offered to current students at Immaculate Heart Academy.
Mr. Jason Schlereth, IHA president, said he is thrilled about the addition of field hockey to the innovative programming already offered at Immaculate Heart Academy. “As we continue to be on the cutting edge of programming for our students, whether it is academically, in the arts, or in athletics, we are so excited to add field hockey to our athletic program,” he said. “I am grateful to our Athletic Department for the hard work it took to launch this program, and I look forward to watching our student-athletes compete in the IHA way.”For more information or to inquire about the field hockey coaching position, please contact Mr. Downey at [email protected].
