In the final weeks of September, high school students, teachers, and staff have been visiting schools across the Archdiocese to speak with 7th and 8th grade students about academics, extra-curricular activities, and how the Archdiocese Catholic high schools put faith into action.
The Archdiocese hosted four high school expos this year at centrally located schools throughout the Archdiocese: St. Joseph the Carpenter School in Roselle, Visitation Academy in Paramus, Hudson Catholic Regional High School in Jersey City, and St. Michael School in Newark.
Students had the opportunity to meet students and staff from each of the Archdiocese’s 24 high schools at these expos, discover financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and learn about how Archdiocese Catholic high schools maintain a 100% graduation rate, with 98% of students going on to college after graduation.
“We had a wonderful turnout for our 2022-2023 high school expos,” said Brother Chris Hall, Assistant Superintendent of High Schools for the Archdiocese of Newark. “The students and staff who tabled at these events were very helpful, and I think that the 7th- and 8th-grade students and families who attended got a lot of value out of it. It is important for us that our current and prospective students are provided with ample opportunities to explore their academic options for the future. We want to build strong and positive relationships with our student body, and events like the high school expos help us to do that.”
Although the high school expos are over for the 2022-23 school year, high schools across the Archdiocese are holding their own Open Houses during the fall to allow prospective students to further explore future educational opportunities.
