Marist High School seeks a dynamic Catholic leader to serve as President of a college preparatory school founded in 1954 by the Marist Brothers. Job Objective

Consistent with the President / Principal model, the President’s role is to effectively direct, supervise, and manage all the financial, communications, legal and business-related activities of Marist High School and working with the Principal, the academic activities, with the approval of the Board of Trustees. Provides the leadership and inspiration throughout the institution necessary to set, plan, implement and attain the school’s goals and objectives. Is responsible for the development of all personnel to perform the duties of their respective positions to maximum effectiveness.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Exercises final responsibility for the quality and effectiveness of the school’s religious and educational programs in accordance with the mission of Marist High School as a Catholic School in the Marist Brothers tradition, bearing particular responsibility for developing the spiritual life of the school.
  • Maintain the academic and financial health of Marist High School.
  • Direct and manage the business activities of the school in order to maximize the attainment of the assigned, most importantly, enrollment and advancement objectives.
  • In consultation with the Principal, prepare the yearly operating budget of the school; charged with making necessary changes as deemed necessary.
  • Review and oversee the tuition structure of the school; advise and implement changes as necessary:
    • Financial Assistance program
    • Scholarship offerings
    • Response to students in arrears
    • College Now program with Hudson County Community College
    • Possible new pricing structure: core tuition plus added charges for specific programs (Farley Plan)
  • Establish and review the Strategic Business Plan and the forecasts to determine conformity to the school’s objectives and determine overall effectiveness of the personnel to accomplish said objectives.
  • Oversee the required marketing communications support to achieve the school’s objectives. These include the website, social media, e-blasts, webinars, electronic brochures, marketing programs, advertising, promotion, etc.
  • Identify possible outside communications activities deemed appropriate; search and approve an outside communications firm; manage the budget, the activities, report on results.
  • Establish strong ties to Marist High School alumni to engage and solicit their support.
  • Promote and protect the public image of the school in the community and serve as public spokesperson for the school.
  • Establish strong ties with the local business and political community in order to garner their support.
  • Institute training and development programs for all personnel within his/her scope of responsibility.
  • Represent the school in all legal matters.
  • Establish overall growth criteria as it relates most effectively to the other private schools in the served community.
  • Maintain knowledgeable posture in regard to the institutional environment in the area, competitive schools’ developments, market trends, enrollment habits and related information by actively participating in the served community.
  • Approve all employment requisitions, personnel changes and salary changes.
  • Approve all major requisitions for materials, supplies and equipment required within the departments.
  • Manage all correspondence, telephone / digital communications and personnel interviews required by this position. As a statement of policy, strive for a 24-hour turnaround on all correspondence.
  • Prepare all applicable reports necessary to communicate the business activities and to advise applicable performance results to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide management and the Marist School Board with information as requested.
  • Be assigned and regularly attend the Marist School Board.
  • Be assigned and regularly attend the Strategic Marketing & Advancement Committee meetings.
  • Be assigned the Chair and regularly lead the Land / Lease (Property Development) Committee and be prepared to advise the Board of Trustees.

Minimum Requirements

  • The qualified candidate should be a practicing Roman Catholic in order to re-enforce the mission of the Marist Brothers and the spiritual life of the school.
  • MBA in Business Management and/or Marketing of an accredited program preferred.
  • 10 years business / financial experience with at least five (5) years managerial experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand the financial implications of the decision-making process and to be capable of making sound business judgements on a continuing basis.
  • High degree of written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and training capabilities.
  • Strong managerial and administrative talents.
  • Ability to organize and plan to maximum efficiency.
  • Ability to operate in an executive position and gain the respect and cooperation of the academic / teaching faculty.
  • Experience in forecasting and presentation of financial results.
