St. John the Apostle School faculty, staff and students participated in a Rubik’s Cube project to commemorate the 70th anniversary of their beloved school. Each of the 400 participants received one Rubik’s Cube and a 3x3 grid design to replicate. The solved cubes were than collected and combined to create a four-foot-tall mosaic made up of 3600 squares.
This project was entirely student driven. Teams of students designed, packaged, sanitized and distributed the cubes. Students were given two weeks to complete their pattern. Expert solvers from the upper grades were on hand to assist younger students who needed help solving their cubes. Pre-K students solved age-appropriate Rubik’s Edge Cubes, a simple one-layer cube designed for smaller hands. The final project was displayed outside the school during SJA Spirit Week for all to see.Special thanks to “You Can Do the Rubik’s Cube” lending library for providing the cubes for this very special project.
